Before leaving the dealer

A handover should not be rushed. Ask for the car to be clean, in daylight and with the radio off. Check these points and photograph anything that does not look right.

  • Documents, VIN, registration and mileage.
  • Two keys, a Type 2 charging cable and, if included, a domestic charger.
  • Warning triangle, high-vis vest, tool kit and temporary plates if needed.
  • Seats, screens, glass and wheels without damage.
  • Paint and panel gaps on doors, bonnet and tailgate. On matte paint, look under a raking light.

Wheels and common details

A290s sometimes arrive with transport pressures around 2.6 bar. That is high and makes the suspension feel harsh and the steering nervous. Set them to the door placard or the manual; many owners prefer 2.3–2.4 bar on the 19-inch wheels.

Also check:

  • Centre caps, if you specified them.
  • Locking wheel nuts aligned with the valves.
  • Wheel bolts and covers in good condition.
  • Windscreen, lights and lamps without cracks.

Software and app

Order matters: set up the account in the car before trying to connect the app. If the app gets stuck in a login loop, do not keep trying; note the error and test after an update.

Check the software version, that the car has connectivity, that your phone pairs and that AC charging works. If possible, try a rapid charger before you leave.

The first week

Charge at home using the car’s schedule, not two different timers. Save the assistance number and the sales contact. Take a photo of the odometer and battery level on collection.

If a warning light, a noise or a charging interruption appears, open a case with the date and description. The sooner it is documented, the better.
