The range in one sentence

The A290 comes with two power levels and three trims. The 180 hp GT is the cheapest and the one with the longest homologated range; the GT Performance moves to 220 hp and the GTS adds equipment and finish. All three share a 52 kWh usable battery and 100 kW rapid charging.

Reference prices

Version Spain (list) France (after CEE rebate) UK (with grant)
GT €39,000 €34,670 £30,245
GT Performance €42,200 €37,870 £32,745
GTS €45,000 €40,670 £34,245

These are 2026 figures and change with grants, equipment and dealer. In the UK the same trims are badged GT+, GT Performance+ and GTS+. Always confirm with the official configurator before signing.

Which version makes sense

  • GT: 180 hp, 236 miles WLTP and 19-inch wheels. For anyone using the car daily who does not need the extra power and values range and price.
  • GT Performance: 220 hp, 226 miles WLTP, the same chassis and Brembo brakes. The sweet spot if performance matters.
  • GTS: 220 hp and the fullest equipment. It makes sense if you want the finish and do not want to add options.

The A290 is not a family car. Rear seats are tight and the 326-litre boot is fine for two people. If you need five real seats or a long-distance load carrier, look elsewhere.

Before you sign

  1. Sit in the back and check the space against your height.
  2. Ask whether the car has One Pedal. It is a MY26 feature and cannot be added to earlier cars.
  3. Check that you can install a wallbox or charge at home. Without home charging, the experience changes a lot.
  4. Get an insurance quote with the VIN, not a generic estimate.
  5. If you choose matte paint, ask about maintenance and PPF.

Buying used

Check the software history, front tyre wear, discs and battery report. Early A290s may not have One Pedal; it is not a fault, but it should be reflected in the price. Be wary of a car with PPF and no invoice: on matte paint, a bad repair is obvious.
